Invisalign is the brand name for invisible braces or clear aligners. Many adults (and even kids!) prefer these to the traditional metal braces, as they are removable during treatment, are not made of metal that might irritate teeth and gums, allow you to brush and floss your teeth normally and are nearly invisible.
Although not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign, many common dental problems can be solved using this treatment method. Invisalign can correct overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, an overbite, and underbite and a crossbite.
Your Invisalign treatment plan begins with a consultation at Mitchell Dentistry. We will evaluate your options and discuss whether your dental issue can be corrected with the Invisalign system. If so, we will plan a treatment schedule and determine how often your aligners will change throughout your program. Typically, when you begin treatment, you will wear each set of aligners for a two-week period as your teeth move into position. At the end of the two-week period, you ‘graduate’ to the next set of custom clear aligners. You will start to notice positive results immediately.
How long does treatment usually take? For most patients it takes about a year to complete your Invisalign treatment. However, this can be affected by your particular situation and also how diligent you are about wearing your aligners.
